Images - SEO

While using add media button on a wordpress blog, you are asked for following information:

(i) Image title;
(ii) Imaged caption;
(iii) Image Alt. text; and
(iv) Image description.

(i) From SEO perspective, is it necessary to fill in all the above four;

(ii) Any guidelines for filling the above, from SEO ponit of view.

 

yes, Offcause you need to Update Image Title, Image Alt for SEO.
Image Caption and Image Description for User you should also fill these section.

 

If your post contain less characters then it will be better to add captions too.Adding captions will do good specially if the post contains images only.

Please advise about any guidelines for filling the above four, from SEO ponit of view. Can we fill title of the post in all the four. Mostly all my posts have url same as the title.

 

Image ALT tag is the most important thing when working on your SEO. Otherwise others just add a quick description to the image (which in most cases won't have any benefit from) and a caption (which will be added to your page *unless you change your HTML/CSS). Also it is recommended to use DIFFERENT text for all those tags (alt, description, caption, etc.)

 

I inserted only image alt tag but I agreed these all four image tags must be filled in order to get ranks from Google image search.

 

If you are in Wordpress I would suggest you to use SEO Friendly images Plugin which adds alt and title to images automatically. You need to ensure they keyword you are targeting is saved as file name as the plugin uses the file name to populate it for alt and title tag. I would also suggest one more plugin WP Smush.it which reduces image file size which helps for Image SEO.

 

Image ALT tag is vary important .

 

Image ALT and Image title are a must the others are optional. I would also suggest EWWW Image optimization plugin as it greatly reduces images which decreases load times and google loves it

its nice and it help, but in the end its more about the backlinks

 

Backlinks yes but wouldn't it be even better if you optimized your images at the start and then built backlinks.
