    Hi all,

I'm wondering what the best method is for google seo purposes when naming images. For example, an image of "Wayne Gretzky Rookie Card". If I name it exactly like this Wayne Gretzky Rookie Card.jpg...in html it will be converted to Wayne%20Gretzky%20Rookie%20Card.jpg. Is this bad for seo? What would be the best naming convention, maybe underscores: Wayne_Gretzky_ Rookie_Card.jpg or even dashes?

Does this even matter? If I search for the above phrase, the first image in google is named gretzky-rc.jpg

I'm assuming the alt tags are the most important for image seo.

    Please chime in, thanks

I've been having success naming it with dashes. I've heard underscores are not as effective.

Your right, alt tags are the most important factor for images. You need to ensure that you include keywords relevant to the content on that page within alt tags.
