I'm 99% sure that there is nothing wrong about it. Google doesn't mind it if you put anything around the ad. You just can't edit the ad script, thats all.

I have read somewhere in their FAQ or TOS, that is allowed, if there is a thick well demarcated border around the pictures and the pictures are not related to your ad content.

If you read the TOS and see the examples on Adsense Blog just by putting a border beside your ad is not against the TOS. That border can be a decorative thing of your site.

    my .2 cents

If that's the way you read it, go for it...to be safe, I'd email the G-team for a decision myself. Same advice to the OP. You can get any answer you want or don't want in a forum, but it's Google who really matters...and save their reply.

BTW, in my opinion, that is NOT a border on the OP's site, it's a clear attempt to draw attention to the ads which is very much against Policy.

Or long as they do not call attention to the ads as they do in the case of the OP. I hope the OP will email google and post their decision here. As I said above, that image is there strictly to highlight the ads; which falls under calling attention to them which is not allowed regardless if it is done via an image or text saying "hey, look at me"

The OP has updated the site, so that is why some people saying seeing borders while other saying it is images.

Originally it was nearly the same as the one that is not allowed in the Google Adsense blog example.

Are you from Google? :) What is the purpose of those "borders"? Obviously to highlight the ads...which is not inline with Policy.
