Images near Adsense ads - still ok?

Anyone out there still using images near your adsense ads? I've been out of the loop for a bit and wonder if this is still ok? Last I knew you could use them as long as you had a visible border between the images and the ads.

I just looked in their TOS and didn't see anything about using images near ads...can anyone else confirm? I know I've seen similar threads where people have posted their responses from google saying that as long as you have a border between the image and ad you are ok.... I'd email them, but don't want to raise a red flag

What's wrong with you two? The idea of making money from websites is because you have quality content not tricking your visitors into clicking...

Show your visitors some respect, and earn money ethically.

I understand where you are coming from, but anyone who creates content deserves to get paid for it. The problem with regular adsense ads is they simply don't work anymore. Most people are blind to them.

It is time for Google to go back to the drawing board and come up with some new, innovative ads besides the over done boring text ads. There was a time when the 468 x 60 banner ad ruled the internet. Then came Google ads.

The death of the text ad could be next! If so... I wonder what will replace it?

The problem with showing visitors respect and earning money ethically is that it doesn't pay well enough!

wait..i thought as long as you don't make it seem like the images are part of the ad (i.e. lining them up as in their examples) that it is okay.

i don't think most people are blind to ads, i think most of the people you know (and that i know) are blind but there are a lot of people out there who aren't and there is a reason why google makes a ton of money

before the clarifications, if adsense ads was near images, and they think your visitors get confused by the images near ads, they have banned your acount anyway telling you that you had invalid clicks. Now they ban your account and tell you that you are breaking the TOS.

Nope, the images near adsense ads is still there and i am using, I emailed google about this issue with my website and they reviewed my site and replied me positively to place the images near ads and i am still using it and I talked about this issue before on this thread...

http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=202659 and this thread posted after the new policy of placing images next to ads...

But I won't suggest this option to everybody, this issue is pretty tight now, better clear with the big daddy google with your website by sending email, they'll review your site and suggest you what do next? that is the best and safe answer i think...
