Images in SERP's?

How long have they been including images at the top of serp's? I just noticed it.

 

I've not ever seen that before.

 

I'm not seeing any other serps returning images? Anyone else seeing any besides one for "blank"?

 

I don't see any images in that link, just product results.

You aren't talking about the picture of the "Shopping bag" in the top left corner are you?

That isn't anything new.

 

This is what I am seeing. Clicking on the rectangles takes you to google images.

I think they're simply promoting the image search

 

I was going to optimize for the $ sign once and then realized there are no results for that.

yeh, name your images with the keywords you prefer and have them appear on web sites with related content . btw canary Island waves rule!
