Can I use images from a video game and put them on tshirts that I would then sell and make a profit from? What about just using the name of the video game, is that allowed?
I'm pretty sure thats trademark infringement. I'm no lawyer or anything, but you'll be using their trademark to make profits.
The video game company might also have the images of their game copyrighted, but that's a closer question.
Ok thank you. Second related question, are in game screenshots that I take owned by the company that produces the game? Can I used images from the game on my blog/tshirts? It seems like at using screenshots on my blog would fall under fair use, but I am not certain. Thanks for the help.
You can't use screenshots on a t-shirt (unless you first obtained permission). The intended commercial use eliminates any fair use argument. If you were reviewing a game on your blog, a screenshot would likely be ok to use.
I wonder how far that law goes. What if you used a sprite image from an old nintendo game....like a question mark block from the old Super Mario?
