Image validation should only contain...

    Numbers

I understand the reasoning for image validation and no one likes to be spammed to death. But it seems to me some of the images I have seen lately make no sense whatsoever. Is that the letter C or is it a sideways U? Is that a funny looking number 1 or is it a 7?

Sometimes it takes 5 or 6 tries to submit before you can manage to get it right.
Numbers only would solve the spam problem and the ugly character problem at the same time I believe.

    Am I wrong?

Yes. Image validation should not be used at all. It's inaccessible to anyone with visual problems.

All jokes aside, when i goto submit to a site, I can fill out all necessary but when i scroll down to see validation, a good (90%) of the time I just close the browser.

It is a pissants excuse for intelligence. Spam is really not a problem if you view the problem from an intelligent view point. "image verification" only punishes your good users (and especially those with disabilities).
