    Photo sharing websites are great if you can afford to push them out there. Once they start to get fairly massive, you will notice ranks rapidly growing due to the fact everybody is placing links to your images/site on the internet. However, nobody will pay to upload a photo, because that's no longer needed now. Ads will rarely be clicked on. So monetization on a photo sharing website is brutal.

    However, if you're looking at more of a side-gallery to integrate with an actual specific-niche website, you're headed in the right direction ;)

    Yes, It is helpful.
    If you are doing photo share for your site it will make your site more popular to visitors. People can find your site through photo search but don't forget to add alt text, image title & image URL.....
