    not sure what image names are, but if you mean alt tags = yes if you mean the file name you save the image as I would say no, but I have no idea how google image search works or if file names are a factor for them or if anyone gets traffic off google image search.

    I am aware that ALT tags definitely matter...I was referring to file names. I didn't think they mattered much, but that's why I'm here... to find out. Thanks for the info.

    I don't think it matters as far as indexing is concerned, but using names that best describes the image itself will help for Google Images, which can help send some traffic your way :)
