Image map website

I have a friend who paid a young graphic designer to build a website. She built it as an image map so google can't easily search it. The links open new windows that seem to be just simple HTML text windows. You can hover over pictures and text shows over the main page.
He is frustrated that it isn't searchable. Does he have to scrap it and start over or would adding a site map fix it (that's what his hoster told him). Then, how could I help him add a site map?
    Thank you!

A sitemap might be a good idea.

He would have to sign up to google webmaster tools and upload a sitemap to there. There is a section for sitemaps in google here on DP, they would be able to tell you a lot more about it than me :D

But really you might be better to start over, hiring a good web designer to make the site.

    Hope you get it going,
    TS
