Hey, I know that it is very important to get text linkbacks but what if someone links back to you with an image? i.e. <a href="http://www.domain.com" title="keywords"><img src="img.jpg" alt="keywords"/></a> How much does that help your PR and ranking?
Text links are ALWAYS much much better. For image links you could name it keywordphrase.jpg and then have the alt attribute for it to help. I mean, it's still a link..just not a link with your anchor text but still alink As far as ranking...hmm one image link will do nothing..text links are much better with rankings..PR will get passed on
Ok, I know text links are way better, but how much better? I have a campain where do to some reasons (long story) I will be able to get many image linkbacks. I am wondering if an image link is considered as a factor in your page rank? I would imagine so, but how so compared to an anchor link?
Well it is pretty early in the morning but I wouldn't mind posting for you Anyway, anchor links are basically links to your site containing the keyword you want to rank for (You want a lot of these so you can move up in the SERP's - Search Engine Results Page). If I wanted Sixty6 Arcade ranking for MySpace Games, my anchor text is "MySpace Games". Now my anchor link would contain my anchor text and a hyperlink to my site: MySpace Games See what I mean? Now about the images, I have never thought of this question, but if someone could answer it, that'd be great! I do know that they don't hold as much power basically because most people forget the ALT tag and even then I heard they don't give much weight (but not sure about that)..
I don't like what I'm hearing. I run a topsite and the only way I get my backlinks are through images!
see that's what I was thinking, how do topsites rank so well then? Tell me, do you use ALT Text in the image button linking back to your topsite?
Yes it does.. See know I'm starting to believe that the ALT Text in images acts like the anchor text in anchor links!
Well, i'm running a campaign where I can get hundreds and hundreds of linkbacks with an image, i'll let you all know how it turns out, (although that type of thing can be hard to track) , And i'll be sure to insert alt tags and title tags
I said the same thing before in another post but do not remeber were. But the answer is yes. Pr can still be passed even through images. Google looks at things differently. When they cach a site there is a full verison and version without images. If you look at the cach version without images then you see you alt tag show up as a text link, that is what google sees. So rather it is text or an image you would get the same benifit no matter which one you use. Just make sure that you use the keywords in your alt tags and that will get the job done.
