Image link vs Text link

I wonder if I will change some links on sites I made and which now are using an images for link, to a text link like "Web Design by .." it will help me more to rise my pagerank and gain more backlinks?

Now it's weird that I have some links ( probably 150 links ) to my site in other sites which are not shown in google (link:www-mysite-com), those links are there more than a year ago but all the links are using images and not text

 

I believe text links are best for SEO. And it would seem that you are providing evidence for this in your second paragraph.

er, google doesn't list all of your backlinks.

i believe text links work best (anchor texts) but an image with alt would also be fine. =)

 

Google doesn't show all backlinks, plus it only updates the results of link: periodically, so what you see is not what Google actually sees internally.

Image links still pass PR, though what you really want is anchor text, something images don't give you. The alt attribute text will contribute, but not as much as standalone text.

 

I've been using images where possible so I can fit alot more words in the alt text without making the link look cheezy. Wonder if theirs any evidence whether anchor text are worth more?

 

Seems like it's logical that alt text is devalued, due to it's ease of keyword stuffing.

 

all my images had Alt text .. but anyway I will do a text link , now I'm sure it must be much better this way
