Is it any good idea to start image host? I came across some threads on buy/sell section and i noticed they don't make much money. Is it true? how do you see image hosting business? Can this be started on shared host in the beginning?
not sure if you can start this on shared host in the beginning but sure there is money on it as i seen some it using a survey network.
Whit imagesack , photobucket and other dozens of big sites in the biz it's a hypersaturated market whit low volatility . There is serious money there but you got a tough root to follow .
The competition is huge and some even offer money for sharing pics so no, unless you can offer something unique
I think there is nothing u can do in image hosting..... I am running an image hosting site for a year for absolutely free because there is only 1% people who are willing to pay to keep their images with u.... And with one percent u will hardly make 50$ a year..... So good idea if u ave plenty of time to waste
There might be money in it, but you would have to beat out all of the competition. There are already very popular and established sites for image hosting.
There is money in it if you aren't strictly doing it to make quick money. For instance, if you set up your site and it is just using a free script it isn't going to innovative thus making it useless when there are so many other image hosts that do more and more user friendly. If you have the time and money to make something new/innovative, then just like any other business, there will be money in it if done correctly.
there's definitely money, but it would also be higher end on the bandwidth. I'd personally create a niche image host site if I were to start one, just because of the existing services like flikr and picassa already out there
Well lets see there's photobucket, flicker, and several other image hosting sites. What do they all have in common? Ummm What do they not have in common? Umm The field is wide open if you can differentiate your image hosting site from all the million of other image hosting sites currently out there.
