Image Enlarging

I was wondering if it was possible to turn a photograph into a vector and then enlarge with out reducing the quality. I have been doing some experiments in Illustrator with crappy results. So I was wondering should I quit wasting my time or am I missing something.

    Thanks in advance.

    Simple answer is no.

However it does depend on the origional size of your picture. Obviously a higher res image will produce a better quality vector as well.

actually a 100% vector graphic is pure lines/paths & is infinitely scalable without any loss of quality.

As far as the size of the original photo, that's the largest you can scale it before losing quality. you could convert the photo to vector for infinite scaling, however you will lose quality in the conversion. Once converted, you can use it as the master to scale to any size you need then render it as a Raster at your desired size for optimal web usage.

My suggestion is to take another picture set at a higher resolution & then downsize from there to keep 100% quality :)

    Good luck!
