    These are the tags that tell you and the search engines what the .gif or .jpg image is all about. As we know that search engines can't index the text written in your images so its a wise things to use ALT Tags to help search engines to identify your images.

    Adding ALT (Alternative) descriptions to your IMG tags is quick and easy. You don't have to do any complex HTML coding. An example of a ALT tag looks like this:

    <img src="images/seo-services-pic.jpg" width="100" height="78"
    ALT="search engine optimization services in india">

    Always include ALT text to describe the contents of an image do not try to use this tag spam the search engines to get high rankings. Use keyword rich descriptions in the ALT text, as some search engines index the keywords, but always try to be descriptive rather than filling keywords.

    You will also provide a text description to visitors with slow download connections or have their images turned off. But to ensure that the text is visible, you must set the image's width and height dimensions so that they appear to them.

    The use of ALT text also enable visually disabled visitors using screen readers, or reviewers, to interpret the image on the screen. Images can be translated, only if there is alternative text describing the image.

    Also consider adding a period "." at the end of the ALT text, so that someone hearing the page can tell where one image stops and another starts.

    Sample ALT text within an image tag:

    <IMG SRC="seo.gif" WIDTH="100" HEIGHT="100" ALT="search engine optimization services.">

    Do not just list keywords in the alt tag. Instead create a brief description about 5 words in length and utilize your keywords in that description.
    This may also be a good place to use common misspellings of keyword phrases since the alt tag only appears when the image is scrolled over.
    Use the same keywords here as in the title tag, page copy, meta description and other tags.
