alright, there's nothing special about me at all. I'm just your average teenager who's thinking of making a blog talking about random things. Mostly my personal life an opinions. I've got some quick questions. How personal is too personal for a personal blog? Do they drive traffic? Is return readership high? Do they ever make money? thanks.
Unless you lead a highly interesting life, you'll get little to no traffic at all for a personal blog.
whats your intention of blogging ? if you just want to let your frens know whats going on, then thats fine. If you want to attract a bigger audience, then you need to try to build a relationship, and to do that, you need to attract others' attention.
With what Nystul said, it depends on your intention. What are you looking for? If you want money than a personal blog may not be the best way to go, unless you find interesting things to say about your life every day.
Answers: 1. Let's put it this way - no-one wants to know about your diarrhoea or haemorrhoids. 2. They can attract traffic yes. Search engine hits are directly proportional to the number of indexed pages. More pages, preferably with unique and interesting content, means more hits. 3. It can be. If you tell your mates about it they're likely to return. If you write good articles people are likely to return. If people find your blog interesting enough to subscribe to your feed they are likely to return. If you talk about diarrhoea and haemorrhoids they probably won't. 4. Yes. Even the shittest blog can make a little money. The trick is to have a popular blog that makes a reasonable amount of money.
Personal blogs don't really make a lot of money. Unless you have something very interesting to share. --Joe
You're going to need to have one crazy interesting life story to drive traffic to your blog! This is quite a hard niche to develope..
my personal blog is ditched if someone can find it. No it's not interesting at all! C'mon Countryboy, make your own when you get countryboy.com
By doing sponsored posts for different sponsored companies you can earn some money by having a personal blog. My Many Thoughts have been giving me some income by doing sponsored posts. For a detailed description of my earnings have a look at my blog: My Quest to earn
just don't post too much of your own pics, also don't give too much of your personal information out! just type in your daily works, simply try to make it a public journal of your life, personal blogs get quick indexing and better pageranks! so in my openion it is a great idea! cheers
hmm, I'm thinking of making a blog about my school life ... for example, today at school I got a red fanta as per normal. Accept today i noticed to bottle was shaped differently. I then had a drink and it tasted extremely bitter like beer. I the comlplained, the woman who was working at the tuckshop had a sip then spat it out... true story... anyway, of course I'd spend a lot more time writting it and it would be of a higher quality..
I think you should read the tips Eddie gurrero gave me (Post name)... Read it from the General Marketing section
make it more impersonal, get yourself an "artistic name" and post more humorous versions of everyday events, being anonymous will allow to get your personal stuff out easier and also allow to make it look more interesting for the random visitor
How personal is too personal for a personal blog? --- Depends on your target audience. Make it only as personal as you want your audience to read. For instance, you don't want some stranger in a far away place to know the colour of your favourite underwear, for example. Do they drive traffic? --- Personal blogs? very rarely. If you make a topical blog, and make it full of information and regularly update, then it could generate plenty of traffic Is return readership high? --- Again, depends on who you're targeting, and what your blog is about. Do they ever make money? --- Definitely. But the lesser your traffic, the lesser money you'll make. For a personal blog, don't expect the money to come pouring in.
personal blog(s) are more fun than money. Its not about the money when it comes to personal weblogs, you could make money though if you are very lucky..
Ive seen alot of crap in my meer 17 years of existance, Ive been out and seen people get stabbed, watched countless acts of violence and criminal activity. I was thinking of making a blog about that, but i doubt many people would be interested so i never bothered.
You'd be surprised. Innocent and people who are unexperienced to those sort of things would be really interested.
