Thanks for the offer but I'll be keeping it. You wouldn't want this problem, it is not a fun decision. :)

If the name is knows through the market you're trying to reach don't change it. Get another name that'll redirect to that, or develop another site, to expand your client base, but don't risk losing the one you have.

    Hi all,

Thanks for all your responses, they've been helpful. Since Inb0x also does a lot of article and blog writing I thought any new name I came up with shouldn't just be about forums.

I just recently registered webcontentscribe.com and other similar names like web-content-scribe.com and webcontentscribes.com, etc.

It's kinda long but I wanted a good keyword in there and I also wanted it to describe what we do.

I plan on using the redirect suggestion and for a time I'll just have to be known as the website formally known as Inb0x. ;)

Hey try this one on for size.

    webblotter.com

Kind of a play on words. Instead of ink blotter (a writer's tool from yesteryear), and it ties in nicely with your forum/article/blogging specialities except the "web" in the name implies its online status. And best of all, it's still available as a domain name. Just a thought. Enjoy.

I couldn't agree with this more...Get a new one and move forward with that. You may be able to build something on it and try to get some page rank. Then maybe someone will buy it for the PR value.

The name does have value. If you don't want to make a mail service around, sell so someone else can. If you changed the zero to a zero with a slash in it (like many zeroes are written), that would make it obvious without having to do anything more IMO.

I don't know, maybe I give the average computer user too much credit, but I think the name is extremely easy to remember as long as you first point out somehow that it is, in fact, a 0. Even though it's easy to tell anyway. However, since it looks like your site deals with webmasters anyway, that point is irrelevant. I think we can all understand the difference between the url inbox.com and inb0x.com. So, I'd keep it. And as far as not being relevant to your site, I think it suits it just fine. Your not injecting content into a mailbox, but you're injecting content, so I think dwelling on the relevancy is a moot point. I mean, seriously, what the Hell was a google before it became a google? And please don't tell me it's a 1 with 100 zeroes after it.....that's a googol.

    avi8r,

webblotter.com is clever. Maybe I'll register it just in case I want to ditch the long webcontentscribe.com name. I do like the idea of having a keyword in the domain though, since it couldn't hurt the link campaigning efforts.

I say ditch the name or put something on the site that is more revavant to the name. I think the name could be used for something productive with the correct branding.

Personally I think that having the keyword in the domain name is overrated SEO tactic. Links and keywords in meta tags are more effective from what I've seen.
