A few days ago I had the idea of starting a music industry ad network... after getting a domain, necessary software and talking to a few webmasters I realized that I knew absolutely nothing about how ad networks worked. Correct me if i'm wrong: My job will be to obtain adspace on several websites and then book the space to advertisers looking to reach that market... right? The part i'm having trouble with is: What is a good CPM to charge advertisers? What should I pay the websites that publish my ads? Anything else I should be considering? -chris
You should spend more time learning about how ad networks work (i know thats what your trying to do now) but you really should spend more time. Experiment with your own sites, see how many people click on the ads, how you can make them more appealing, what type etc.. Starting an ad network without knowing anything about it is like me starting a Mechanic Garage and not knowing anything about cars.
I agree, your best bet would be to buy some ebooks or do some extensive research on the basis of a ad network. Running a ad network is a very hard thing and not something that can be done overnight.
