Well, last night the keyword (well, keyphrase) I wanted to target was "funny rants". My site is new, a couple months old, and I search "funny rants" (without quotes) on Google to see who I'm up against. Well I'm going down the list, and I'm #8 on the list. #8! I never dreamed I would be on the front page for any phrase two words long. With quotes, ("funny rants") I'm #7 on the list. Now, I guess I have to aim on getting a little higher. Does anyone have any tips (I know that's a general question, but it's worth asking). Thank you DP community, I couldn't have done it without you.
I know, that's what I've been trying to do. I noticed that a lot of my backlinks say "funny stuff", but I'm going to try to change that. Hmm.... let's see how I rank with that. Edit: Not very good, but then again I don't really use that keyphrase anywhere on my site.
Good for you I was on top for awhile but it went down not to long after and then went up again. don't be to happy yet.
Sounds like you're off to a good start, Kaabi, and you have the right attitude, as well. "Expect the best, and prepare for the worst" is one of my favorite quotes. You may want to try using variations on your keywords for your anchor text, as well. This may difficult to do with a phrase like "funny rants", but it will give your backlinks a more "natural" appearance, which typically helps with respect to rankings. Best of success. Sam
"funny rant" gets 64 overture searches per month. So my advice is not only target that keyword, but aim for some more popular ones too
I'm also trying to target "rants" but I don't seem to be in the first 10 pages of that one! At least I'm #6 now for funny rants on Google.
