I'm sick of banner exchanges bringing sites down...

I use a few banner exchanges,

And sometimes i go to some of my sites, and nothing will load -- only the heaer. Most the time, is the banner ads not loading!

I'm sure my guests get sick of this -- first time visitors might not come back because of it.

Is there any php code to check if a file is there, and if not, forget about it.

Even better -- which banner exchanges do you use that have 99.99 update of banners.

Does anyone else have this problem?

    Cheers.

Do people still use banner exchanges? I know I tried it years back on a site, half the time I went to my site, the banner didn't load and I NEVER saw my banner anywhere. Just felt it was a total waste of time. The read later somewhere many other people felt the same way.
I'm certainly not telling you not to use them, but see what others have to say about it first.

I do get hits back from them, but you never know if it's just somone clicking ads to get more hits to their site.

I guess i could remove them and see what happens.

(p.s they are down again today, making one of my sites load slow again)

    Cheers.

i run www.1stchoicebanners.com and the only time your banners do not load on another site is if your server is down as you host your banner. This is better than the exchange hosting them

I used to use banner exchanges but what you have to remember is your target audience. The majority of these users are webmasters, and to be honest will have no real interest in visiting your site, unless it is webmaster based or based o na topic your website is about.

Also track your visitors and page views (http://www.google.com/analytics/) to see if they are productivily using your bandwidth or wasting it ;)
