I'm Rich, Bitch!

One of Dave Chappelle's most popular catchphrases is "I'm rich, bitch!" No, he doesn't say it to be disrespectful toward women. He uses it as snobbery to assert his authority and superiority.

Here's the thing though. Dave Chappelle really is rich. The $50 million contract he signed with Comedy Central is a matter of public record.

So, here's the question: When you hear internet marketers and so-called gurus bragging about how much money they make, do you believe them? Or do you think they're full of crap?

If you have made it, you should be proud of what you have done... but sometimes, they take it over the top.

I think that happens is when you really make the money you tend to keep more quiet about it. Hence, my vote is crap. It's all overemphasis.

 

Yeah, they brag about how much money they made, than they try to sell you their "secrets"...

You know how they REALLY make their money!

 

Agreed with the first half.

I make money online, likely more than most; however, that has no real meaning in and of itself. It's about how and where you make it.
The more you make the less likely you are to talk too much about it. Don't want to sour a good thing ya know?

The guy that just made his first $100 check from some new CPA will be shouting it from the rooftops though. Not that it's a bad thing...

PS. In the episode where that phrase was coined... the guy just got his reparations checks and used the money to buy an 18 wheeler full of Newports. Funny stuff!

 

Here's a get rich thread right here on DP http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1149567 however the first page promise and the last page results are not the same.

Until I see the Pope selling get rich stuff I'll just assume that anyone who sells get rich stuff is a scammer or a stupid business man/woman.

 

i once read an aritcle about something close to this..
you have people who made a lot of money (the article told about a millionaire) and show it, their cloths/car/(sigars/glasses/new clothss)
and you have people who made waay more money (the billionaire) and they dont show it like the millionaire does.. because its just who he is! like a nerd you could say..

So what im saying is, there will be people who made a lot of money but they are not saying "Im rich, bitch! " but that are the 'millionaires'

 

I don't believe most of them. There's some that you kind of wonder about because they are so popular, for example richjerk. I often wonder how much money he is actually making. I tend to think though that it is not near as much as he leads people on to believe.

 

I don't either.

However, I do believe the ones that are verifiable. For example, Seth Godin is a best-selling author, so he's obviously making money.

That being said, Seth Godin doesn't brag about how much money he makes. At least, I've never heard him brag.

Well, I think the odd thing is, you know the ones that are likely rich. You can see that Aaron Wall's SEObook (no longer available) was a hot selling item if you wanted to get into SEO or do the SEO for your own website. You know Shoemoney and John Chow are both making good money on their blogs because you can see the comments and are well aware of the traffic that they receive. I'm not sure who Seth Godin is, but I bet he doesn't walk around talking about how much money he makes. Most people who really do make money, don't.

Most people are full of "it"!

Then again there are always the lucky few...

 

It depends on who they are as to how credible I perceive their claims to be.

I dont compare myself with others. I am happy with what i earn. I also know my limitations.
Having said that money is not everything. First comes people, then money and at last things you buy.

The point is .... you chuck "rich" in the topic and no matter what the topic, sale, product .... even a lousy thread .... people will flock to it like hungry seagulls and eat the crumbs that are fed to them ....
