Im ready to SEO

Okay, So I am now happy that I am ready to go.

I want to optimise my main business website to generate a lot more natural traffic. I have been using adwords a lot recently and just paying in the region of 300GBP+ ($600) a month on just Adwords advertisement.

I have decided that I will continue with the Adwords but add an extra 300GBP per month to SEO.

Is this enough to be able to have my website ranked for popular keywords?

    The website is www.invision-gaming.co.uk

I am trying to rank highly for such words like:

    game servers
    uk game hosting
    game hosting
    counter strike source
    etc

If you were me, and for the sakes of this thread, lets presume you are. What steps would you go about to optimisings the site?

What wouldbe the first 5 or so things you would do?

Thanks for any input you can offer. I have been meaning to get around to doing this for months and months but only just can find the time. (Barely)

You will get plenty of 'comments' - dare I suggest going to a forum and basically saying 'do it for me' - may not be the soundest way to go about it. Start learning SEO and ask specific questions

Hang around the forums for a bit and you can learn a lot....one bit of advice.....stay away from Pagerank obsessed.

    Not to be rude - but to a more experienced fella it sounds like;

"Tell me HOW to do it"

You haven't learned the basics and are asking specific questions... sounds like you want it ALL ... which I am sorry to say.. if you think such advise will be professional - you are likely mistaken

Once again.. no mailce..that's just what the approach to assistance comes across as and I fear you will follow too much of the obscure advice U are likely to get that way....

Okay specifically (and I would prefer you not answer because any advice will probably be misled now anyway)

I think understand all onsite SEO fairly well. I have optimised onsite as much as I can.

I have used correct titles and header tags including my keywords and created a nice balanced density of keywords. I have also created friendly URLs throughout a good portion of the site and I dont think I use a single ? in any URL for GET variables infact. All modrewrite.

I have also correctly labeled everything.

    Possible things I havent done:
Used correct naming for CSS styles (How relevant?)
Used different titles for every page. There is probably 5-10% of pages out of a few hundred that are the same title.

I am happy with the onsite SEO, I am now really only interested in offsite SEO unless soemone can tell me that I have done everything all wrong, I am quite happy with how things have gone.

As austars put it, what is the best way to build backlinks. Should I pay for quality ones.

As I said originally, I have300GBP to develop per month? How would you do it?

    100 Paid directries?

Ok, thanks.. like I said, trying my best not to be rude, but folks with non—linear questions tend to get the worst advice IMO – I’d advise a separate post for each area of concern..

That said..let me see if I can make it up to U

I haven’t looked at the site yet (yeah I know..) …. But let’s get cracking and I can do that once we get past the early stuff…

“Used correct naming for CSS styles (How relevant?)” – No problems, no worries, no discernable effect

“Used different titles for every page.” – Unique meta description is important as well.. (keeping out of the SI)

I would like to know what, if any KW/Phrase research has been done..?

    Yeah, I can write fine.

Just all depends on what I want to write about.

Anyway, I have done some keyword research. This was only when I wanted to knwo what to advertise for on adwords.

I tapped in game servers on overture and just used them.

Btw when I said CSS names of styles, I meant class names and id names, not the name of the CSS Style.

I am reading some articles on SEO chat now.

I think my whole site may need a rethink now.

It looks like my keyword density is awful...

I want to crack.. 'game servers' and 'game server hosting'

Whoah back up there... If you are reading about KW density..you are reading garbage.... (excuse my french - I am Canadian though)

No self respecting SEO uses KW Density.. the new world is about understanding Phrase Based Optimization and Latent Semantic Indexing - the engines have long since moved away from simple KW parsing and into more phrase based methodologies...

(I am still on the last post.. just had to put that in as an emergency nOOb measure)

Ok, I won't even READ anything by Danny... he writes link bait trite geared to get eyeballs more than teach anyone....

    1. It's by Danny - yikes
    2. If it says anything about KW density - it is wrong or outdated

I think you shouldn't have much of a problem. It seems like it won't be too hard to optimize for your niche. At $300 a month you should be able to get some decent seo worker and only end up needing them for 2-3 months and then 1-2 months each year after, if that.

    Good luck,
    Aaron

    Hi Kalyse

View this as a six month project...

    1) Get somebody to write 4 articles a month on gaming for you of approx 500 to 600 words

    2) Optimize each article for one keyword phrase by adding the phrase once in the title and three times in the content

    3) Pay to distribute one article a week to the paid distribution on iSnare and submit it to Ezine Articles

    4) Start your own blog and submit an article on it each week written by you. In addition post your own comments on other blogs and forums.

    5) Submit your site to 100 directories per month for the next six months.

If you want I can help you with this. PM me if you want.
