Ok, I don't want to brag, and I really can't reveal my newly found keywords...but according to keyword tracker it's got 40,000 searches per month, and the intitle competition is 7500. I think getting ranked well shouldn't be too difficult with that low of competition. So how do you all proceed when you find this type of situation. Buy a good keyword based domain name and start building a site...get a free blogspot blog and do some articles...both? Just curious.
Keyword-rich domain name will help a little. Look to capitalise on the situation by building a original content-rich site. Look a little in to what others in the niche are offering and embrace and extend those ideas. Which tools are you using to estimate the search volume?
Using Keyword Discovery and doing intitle searches on Google. What do you think of those numbers? Good, bad, not worth the effort?
Giggity giggity. With a brand new site you'll still want to utilize the power of long tail keywords, building content around these long tail phrases and an internal pyramid-like linking structure (with the most searched, general keywords near the top). Competition or not, sand box issues abound for just about everyone with a new domain.
Alllllriiight!!! Thanks for the tips on the long tail keywords...that's exactly what I'm shooting for...I think I've found a pretty good little niche that I'm hoping (fingers crossed, praying to the SEO gods) will generate some good CTR.
Yeah your right..but looking at the competition on the first page of G...the sites are pretty weak, and seem to be there by default. I think I've got a pretty good shot at getting in the top 10 relatively quickly...plus I'm going to bust my a$$ on this site, because I think it could bring some real good traffic.
Dude, be very careful. Don't get too hyped up about the 40,000 searches report by WordTracker. I found a keyword that according to WT gets 20 searches every day. I set up a PPC campaign for it. Guess what? 150 searches in under an hour! These results are horrendously off at times. But still, I hope it's not lying to you. Good luck.
Well by that rationale I should get about 280,000 searches then...so that's great news... No, I get what you're saying. I don't take those numbers as the Gospel, but they seem to be a pretty good guide to work from. Plus you have to take into consideration that if it says there's 100 searches for "cool new shoes", you're probably going to pick up traffic from searches on "cool shoes" "new shoe" "new shoes" and more...depending on how well your site is optimized.
Congratulations on your discovery, but honestly I find keywords like that all the time and they are not that easy to rank, actually I have a list of over 4000 english 4 word keywords with less than 100 intitle and 0-2 backlinks. And even for those keywords it takes several weeks to rank, why well there are many things to consider. 1. Trustrank - If Wikipedia has that keyword they will rank, and it will be very hard to beat. 2. Age of the page, even if I optimize my page for that keyword and another older website has it they will rank first. So even finding: allintitle: your long tail keyword inanchor:another set of keywords with less than 100 pages will require some work.
The best situation is when you find a keyword like that and also find that the .com is available I'm happy with the keywords that have even 6,000 searches per day. I actually got the .com for one a few weeks ago, hopefully something can become of it.
6000 searches per day is good volume. You should do well with that .com I went back and checked the intitle competition for my keywords and there's actually only 500 sites competing with that phrase in the page title...so with 40000 searches if I can get on the first page, I should grab some decent traffic.
We'll it's going, but slowly. I have the site done and have started doing articles with they keywords, submitted to a couple hundred directories, blogged it, social bookmarked it, everything I can think of, but so far, no dice on good search engine position. I've got almost 1000 backlinks in just under a month, so I guess that's a positive. I'm adding new content when I can find it, and still doing on page SEO. It's only been a few weeks, but it would be nice to see some results soon.
