This just doesn't make sense anymore. I have a blog that I started about a week ago, PR0, almost no backlinks. Today I snatched the fourth position on the Google SERP for a moderately competitive keyword (about 1 mil results). I'm quite curious to see what traffic this brings me. I'll keep you updated. Best regards, George
It's called the Google bump. New sites almost always get it. If you keep updating daily with good, original content, you'll maintain a good SERP position. Otherwise, in another couple weeks, you'll drop like a rock.
don`t expect it to remain i have a site that appears in the top 5 one day then no where the next then back again
google is giving a chance to every new site . if you continue being on the first page , this is the success . you only an example of google bump
its not weak. its the google bump. MRX got it right. if you keep up on it theres a good chance youll stay.
Its just the Google Bump. Make sure you keep your website going with content and you will have a good chance of staying up there. -Stanley Tang
what amount of traffic are you getting for that moderately competitive keyword .. btw now add some fresh and unique content .
This happened to me a couple of days ago. I had a few hours of fame. I wrote what I thought was a good article and five days later it was indexed and went to second position on Google SERP. I only noticed because I suddenly had a huge increase in my AS clicks. I checked back later that day and it was gone. Boo hoo. I wonder if it will come back. Currently it is ranking number 3 in MSN so that is some consolation.
Number of results is probably one of the poorest metrics for determining competition, because it can be so deceiving. How many results are there for: [allinanchor:"keyphrase"] (drop the brackets but keep the quotes) -Michael
Any theory behind this Google Bump? I mean, why does it happen? Since when? I believe it takes a few good months to surface on G SERPs!
