I've been spending a fair bit of time today with submitting a new site to directories and let me tell you, I'm on a roll here.... I've actually managed to get the last five image validation submission correct! Five in a row! That's certainly a new personal best for me. So, what's your personal best when it comes to getting the annoying image validations correct?
I am embarassed to say that I am a bit of a pro, i seem to get 9-10 in a row on a few different occasions.
If I ever manage an average like that I will have to throw a party. My average is closer to 1 out six. Why do they have to be so hard to read?
I must be a freak, because I see people complaining about the captchas all the time, but I rarely have a problem with them - maybe 1 in 100 tries.
Yes, you most certainly are! Today I did stumble across one that even you would have problems with, one letter was being drawn outside the image. I guessed it wrong.
some that use upper and lower case are really hard when then shrink and stretch the letters... s stretched or S shrunk, how are you supposed to know some use 0 that look like O, and I=>1=>L and 5=S. Grr, wish that they would not use these letters! Neural neworks will be able to figure it out better than humans anyway!!! grr.... counter productive!!
Captchas are the worst thing on the internet. If we struggle with them imagine what the average user thinks of them.
Actually I was reading a discussion with a user who needs to use a screen reader for windows. He was complaining that he cant pass the captcha on most sites and they should use an audio option as Microsoft does. Captchas can be really fustrating at times, most of all when they use crazy fonts and blended colours. Why cant they just be basic text?
What really has amazed me with the captchas is how many of the script providers have said how easy their's are to read. Yeah right. I like the one's that ask a question or have a math problem. I think that's where the future should be for captchas. I hope someone's listening and makes this standard instead of those rediculous and often unreadable pictures.
I thought I was the only one with that problem! My stumbling block is, Hmmmmm is it a 0 or an O. Or 1 or I. I never have got one right on the first try. I brought the hammer in from the garage because I got sick of seeing my monitor grow wings when I would throw a fit! Ha Ha Roger
What bothers me with them are the fact that so many brand new directories use them. I mean, it's not like they're bound to get that many spammed automated entries on their first two days on the internet.
Captchas dont seem to bother me on directories, but the one on the dp keyword suggestion tool, now thats a different story
