I'm not getting any traffic to my blog...what can I do.

So here's my dilemma, my blog has been up now for a few weeks. I'm adding new, good, content everyday, I've been submitting my articles to digg, technorati, etc, plus blog directories. Google pulls up 6 pages of sites that have links to my blog (some good quality, some so-so I imagine). I already come up in the Google top 5 for a couple decent keyword phrases, but I'm not getting any traffic...and by "any" I mean almost no views per day. The first few days my blog was up I was getting 30-50 uniques a day, but now it's gone down to nothing. I'd like people to enjoy my blog articles, but it would be nice to get some ad clicks on top of it. I've also submitted to as many search engines as I could find. I know it takes time to get toing, but I have some good things in place, I just would like to know if there's more I should be doing? And if so, what? Thanks.

Well these these should not be in the same sentence. If the terms are decent you would be getting traffic.

The issue looks to me like the phrases you are ranking for are ones that get no traffic. Have you confirmed the traffic potential of them?

I don't mind telling you that for 2 weeks I was getting good hits from "Tiger Woods 2008 forum" "Tiger Woods 2008 Discussion", "Tiger Woods EA Sports", this is because I wrote an article about the release of the Tiger Woods 2008 video game.

Now that the article is not on the first page anymore, I'm not getting any hits for those keywords. I guess I'm having a difficult time figuring out a keyword strategy for a blog vs. normal website. Because blog content changes all the time, it seems like it's difficult to maintain good keyword rankings..unless you just use Golf Blog, Golf Discussion, Golf Forum etc. instead of focusing on getting keyword hits on your arcitles. I don't know..I just can't figure it all out.

you need to get more links directly to your posts to maintain your rankings, there are trackback submitters that do this well, but it's viewed by some as spamming

I don't know...Blogger was all I knew about when I started my blog. I have a dedicated domain name that I purchased....is Wordpress worth switching to?

I've submitted it to a bunch of blog /rss feed directories.

The nice thing with wordpress is you can now import your posts from your blogger account. I personally would recommend you do that but also the advice of building the links to the individual posts is excellent. That is the problem with blogger adn standard (default) wordpress... they are not set up well out of the box for long term stability of your content. that however is easily fixed by learning how to optimize your wordpress installation and focusing your link building efforts to the deep links.

Most of the times it takes some time to get good amount of traffic from SE. For one of my sites I have had only 15-20/day from SE. So I will say keep working give it at least 5 months.

Here are some tips right from my own blog, Slyvisions.com:

    1) Promote your blog by direct email marketing.
    2) Join blogging communities like MyBlogLog and BlogCatalog.
    3) Be the first to break the news, then submit to sites like Digg. This is really hard, so you'll have to learn how to do this.
    4) Apply good SEO to your articles. Traffic from Google really pays off, especially when you rank #1 for certain keywords.

There are really more to promoting and exposing your site than this. You can visit my blog to learn more about blogging, SEO, or internet marketing.

There are millions of blogs and getting traffic to blogs is not easy.
However, you should not loose hope. Stick to a niche blog and post interesting articles.

Network with bloggers in your niche and read their post and comments. Use articles of other bloggers to springboard your ideas and always put their links. It takes time.
