Website creation is my hobby for about 7 years now... It gives me great satisfaction to see my scripts and designs all working perfectly... Suggestions on what to read to learn more about this misterious path ...
Well the easiest way to make money without pissing people off is probably to start a blog. As with anything it WILL take time but it's easy and if you enjoy the subject you're writing about you'll do fine. I'm two parts into a series I'm writing at my blog about the very subject. For example if i start a blog about pharmacy ... what can i write about ... i'll search it right now on google.
Try writing about pharmacy related topics... especially Viagra and pen*s enlargement pills, everyone loves getting those emails. (sorry, couldn't resist) Just write about whatever might interest your visitors, it doesn't have to be perfect either, just send them regularly.
It was the same for me when i registered here. Reading this forums is the best you can do to learn how to monetize your websites, optimize them for search engines etc. I created websites since 7 years too and just started monetizing 2 years ago, SEO i just started 6 months ago. So, just read, read, read and ask. People here are willing to help.
doing blog and selling affiliate products as well might give good revenue. man i read this too quick and thought you said will let your girlfriend do those products testing XD
First of all "Plan Ahead" it will save you a lot of headaches. Plan ahead by doing research: Think of a name for your site with a .com extension if possible, find a reliable host, sketch out your site before production, Find products or service to sell our use your own unique product. "It took me three months to do research and pre-production work before I started on production." If you don't have your own unique product, then find resell right products and affiliate programs. ClickBank, and PayDotcom is a good start. Great Tips: -When just starting an online business...start small then adjust as needed, because your site is going to confuse customer if it's too broad. -Don't use banner ads like crazy it will slow your site down and they don't really make you money anyways. -Content is the key to making money...make sure your site has lots of info. -Find a reliable merchant account like paypal or clickbank for credit card transaction. -Don't forget to protect yourself from fraud, legal issues, and commission theft. -Most of all EDUCATE yourself because making money online takes time and lots of hard work. Since you've been creating sites for 7 years you're probably already wise to this but be sure to put your adsense and affiliate links in a seperate include file. This was the biggest mistake I made when first starting out. I was using an affiliate program and coded the affiliate link or banner onto each page of my site seperately. After about a year the affiliate merchant switched networks and i had to change all the links!! About 200 pages - I had to edit each one individually. Plus this way, you'll be able to switch the colors in the adsense ads for testing purposes.
since you have been doing web design for a couple of years then start a blog about that critique designs around the web...you can create wordpress themes and give them away free. this helps you get links back to your site.
