I'm looking for a free CGI based forum

I have a bit of a strange situation - My website is hosted (for free) on a Linux server that does seem to support PHP!!! The only script that I can get to work is CGI (used for the contact form)

I have a nasty bravenet forum but I'm getting cheesed off with the irrelevant pop-up ads on every page.

Does anyone know of a free CGi based forum:confused: Please help.

I am using since many years a perl forum software AnyBoard from netbula.com

you may have a look at one of the 5 forums on my site

    Forum for love relationship counseling

now I have the licensed version - but earlier I had the same as free version - all same but fewer features for the admin section mainly.

it runs perfectly since many years, has many useful features - one major disadvantage however it does have:

it creates an absolutely terrible html code with some 100 errors per page - but ..
most other forum software on the market do a similar or worst code.

I realized early during the free version (testing)-time that none of the many code errors affects major search engines and all posts get perfectly indexed and good SERPS

on the free version you may even try to fix the html errors in the code yourself - it would be a matter of a day or two to have all errors fixed in the perl code ( it's a NON-open source project however )

it is ideal for Google adsense as each post is a separate flat file - the forum also does support dynamic pages - you select one of the two modes, flat files or dynamic files ...

AnyBoard can have a wide variety of different looks - thanks to a number of config templates available - just look at the original site - then compare the different looks

may be that forum helps you
if you are lucky the free online installer may install all within minutes

    Good luck
