A week and a half ago we launched a health-based membership website. As of today 9:11 pm, EST we have 553 members of which 70 have premium paid memberships. We've also generated $105 from Adsense from this site during the same time period. Here's the dilema, HOW do I turn at least 50% of those 550 free memberships into paid memberships? We recently launched a fitness challenge to try and encourage more paid memberships. But i'm not to impressed with the conversion rate as you can tell. The site is H-e-a-l-Z-o-o dot Com (obviously the dashes need to be removed and the "dot" should be replaced with "." ) Your expertise will greatly be appreciated.
You need a strong call to action to start converting those free members to paid. Without seeing your URL, it's kind of hard to give you any tips..but in short, make the premium service a "must have" if they want to truly benefit from your site.
Just wanted to say that considering the site is under 2 weeks old, that is an amazing result so far. Don't mean to threadjack, but did you do any marketing for the site? Just wondering how you managed to get 500 members (even if most of them arent paying members) so quickly.
Ok. I have visited your site, even registered as a free member. First it was not easy to find the sign up form for the membership. When I did, there was beside it, a rather tepid attempt to sign me up for your premium service. In the email that was sent to me on the optin (which took almost 20 hrs. to hit my inbox) you did not make another direct attempt to resell me on your premium membership. It contained a weak round about reference to your offer, but nothing direct. You need to have a strong direct call to action to obtain more paying members. Put their imagination to work and have them envision what being a member can mean. Tell them how great they will look in a swimming suit. Sell them on the idea of having no shame when removing their shirt. Entice them with the feeling of moving their hand over their skin (or better yet their boyfriend or husband's hand) and have it be silky smooth free from ugly stretch marks. You need to tell them what's in it for them. Then offer the way, the solution...your paid membership. Good Luck.
Frankly I was a little turned away by your site. I clicked some links, but there wasn't even a teaser. It was just register or go the fuck away Make it a little friendlier and you might have better luck.
Did you really get 70 out of 553??? That is exceptionally good. That is, if you really did. No offense, but I have heard it all. You are not going to get 50%. Not even close. Doing above 10% is VERY good. Such sites like on sex and give-aways do above 10%. But those kind of sign ups are pure crap. Obviously. I know you don't believe it, but overtime you will find out on your own. Nice site, by the way.
Nice site and great job so far. It is hard to find the signup link. I would add a signup link above the fold which is the top half of the page. Also give me a reason to upgrade to the premium membership. it's a half-hearted attempt. I would offer a free report, 10 ways to... to capture names and emails then follow up with a series of emails that give them a health tip per day. Invite them to test drive the premium membership in every email. After someone signs up for a free membership redirect them to a landing page that offers them a deal on the premium membership. Great start and keep it up!
yeah those are good stats...maybe offer 2 weeks free but for a limited time, then start the autobill?
