I have to put in a vote for Bluehost. They have helped me solved any problems I've had quickly. I have no complaints.

If you look at EUKhost.com you can get a lot more than servage for the same price or opt for a cheaper package and still get more :)

I used most of the well-known services and i doubt you'll find any of them better than HG, those in the same price range i mean. Avoid the live support though, open a ticket.

I never tried hostgator, Because I've heard many horrible reviews of them, from many out here.
Any how, my recommendation to you would be Yahoo.com hosting, they are expensive. but they are the best - you know!

Sorry to be repeating this, but I think EUKhost is one of the best.

Its smaller, but you get the best features and better prices. The customer support is excellent too.

I just found a discout coupon as well.

    "EUKCOUPON"

Sry to hear your having such a problem with hostgator, did you call the 24/7 tech support line? I have been using HostGator for the last 4 months or so and have never had a problem with any fantastico installs. Everything is always up to date and working great.

Permissions? I never had those problems after being hosted by them for almost 2 years now...

If you want to fix it yourself try asking support@hostgator a shell access just for you and chmod/own the files/dirs.

Weird. Nothing is up to date for me and rarely is anything installed with proper permissions.

Finally they went in and got my wordpress working. Thing is its friggin version 1.6. Also of course all of their installs dont even include basic templates other than 1 or 2 crappy ones.

What a joke. I think I will be moving within a month or so.

They always say its not their fault cpanel is out of their control ect. Well its an integral part of their hosting package so they should ensure it has up to date intalls and intalls with proper permission or not include it. Seems like basic elementary school level common sense to me. lol

Screw em. 1 more problem ike this and im gone.

Are you sure your talking about www.hostgator.com

The current wp version is 2.5

If you can't upgrade to 2.5 wp because of plugins or something then HostGator cant do anything as they only support the latest version. May want to check on that before pointing fingers bud.

Oh I can upgrade/reinstall myself manually of course. But the 1 click install puts version 1.6 on with no templates features ect. Why bother even having a 1 click install if its nowhere near a current version?...bud.

Hmm, well if that is the case then contact support they will fix it up unless somewhere on your server you need a old php version that the new wp doesnt support.
