I'm in my dashboard....have question

Currently looking at my site usage for URL in my sig. I set up a profile for this site which is already 6 years old and has a page rank of 5 (yes, I know that doesn't mean anything) but wondering how soon I see results in the site usage area....because everything is currently at zero0zero zilch + nada....nothing. Is there an additional tweak I am missing? I hope I have this set up OK. Any insights/ feedback / constructive criticism on what else needs to be done would be great hearing...tips etc.

Here is what I am currently doing to access my analtyics account:

    #1. click> ACCESS ANALYTICS
#2. Under that gray bar with WEBSITE PROFILES I click "view report"
hyperlink next to URL I want to see my stats for.

Although in STATUS column, I am currently seeing a YELLOW TRIANGLE
with "!" in the middle of it.<-------what's that yellow triangle mean?

Usually takes 24hrs to gather all your data since analytic's is not real time.

Actually it's been over 3 days now....I have my analytics code in my HTML in the right place. Personally I think it's all a joke....just checked my so-called stats and all were at zero....

The 'google site verification' code is for Webmaster Tools - not Google Analytics.

You can't see any Analytics stats because you don't have any Analytics code.
To get the code go to Analytics settings >profile settings and click 'check status'

Well Magda....you have probably been THEE greatest help....unbelievable! So, in signing up for Analytics, why was I not initially made aware of this when I filled out that form to paste the code into my HTML? I sincerely appreciated knowing this up front. No one at a special Google blog even told me this as I frustratingly sought help. To start, should I delete that code and get another special line of code directly via analytics? What do you suggest my next best step is? I am dumbfounded as to why when you sign up in the tools area that none of this is brought forth and clearly stated.
I was clearly at a loss as to why all my stats were non-existent. Thank you again . . .

OK ....so I'm on my Analytics page....like you say.......and on upper right hand corner of that page is: Settings | My Account | Help | Sign Out I go to that SETTINGS to find
PROFILE SETTINGS.........it is nowhere to be seen. Question: Where do I find the PROFILE SETTINGS?

If I worked for Google, believe me, I'd simplify SO MUCH of all these links and crap that they make people wade through . . . .

Google Webmaster Tools and Google Analytics are completely different tools - you don't need to sign up for the one to use the other. Webmaster Tools is very useful for giving you information about how google sees your sites - backlinks, sitelinks, html issues etc.
When (if) you signed up for an Analytics account, a totally different piece of code was generated than that which you used to verify with Webmaster Tools.
You should find the code by clicking Check Status where the red circle is - as in this screenshot.

If you can't do that, I think teh best thing you can do is register another Google Analytics account

That's just it . . . HOW do I access that exact page you were so kind to send that screenshot for? In essence, the one readeing MAIN WEB SITE PROFILE INFORMATION. I ask this, because, yes, I can acetually log into my account at ACCESS ANALYTICS button. Next page that opens>https://www.google.com/analytics/settings/?et=reset&hl=en
Where, as you'll see....in the gray bar where it reads MAIN WEBSITE PROFILE INFO in your screenshot, mine reads: WEBSITE PROFILES. So.....the frustration continues......

click the 'edit' link at the end of the grey table, where you have the name of your site, underneath 'Actions'

magda: That set of instructions helped greatly....thank you. I found the actual tracking code and pasted it directly before my </body> tag. Have a look in "source view" for page in my sig. Now, I assume this takes 24-48 hours to propogate prior to seeing any real time stats? Curious. My next question is based on why "G" doesn't make much of this simpler . . . especially for aficionados who use G to the greater extent.
It's as though they want you to get frustrated and NOT use any of their offerings. I.e., their affiliate programs, Chrome, Picasa are not the problem. It's more along the lines of programs involving actual "tracking" that seem frustrating. Now I hope I have this part of it set up alright. Your guidance is appreciated. Keep up the good work. If you see anything wrong, don't hesitate . . . .

To properly track a site, it is recommended that you have the code on all pages. Seems you have only installed it on your home page.

    Cheers
