Don't panic too much...1700 is not a huge sum, and summer is near i am sure you can take two job and take care of it in a few month. Talk to the utility company and ask them if they have minimum payment. In US you can always talk to them and make small payment monthly so that they won't cut your power out right away. I owe a hospital for 2500 dollar too. My insurance company screwed me and i made clear that i am not going to pay that shit
Unless you know where all that gas and power went, call the gas and electricity companies, ask them to check your instalation, even if it turns out to be true, contact their billing department, explain the situation and try to arrange payment in installements (my dad had a similar problem here and the billing company offered to let him pay in 8 monthly installments, no interest rates, (but this is a different situation with a big family always using the water heater, we ended up getting a 1000$ dollar bill for a 6 months period) I find it hard to believe a single student could ever spend that kind of gas, and I think so will the gas company )
yes, I kinda think same way... actually its two of us, two students living in a moderate flat, basically we use gass only for heating and we used heating for 4 month only. We couldn't possibly spend 1700 worth of gas in 4 month, thats around, 425$ per month - thats insane! Besides I didn't get this numbers from utility companies, landlord gave them to me... I'm a bit suspicious, should I ask for some proofs?
so did he pay the utilities and now you are just paying him back?...yeah i'd definately want some proof...tell him to show you the reciepts...or call the utility company
Obviously, yes, you should. If you don't and pay this, next time he will serve you a $2000+ bill for using thin air again.
don't pay! these insurance companies are big cheaters! yes, if you work 18 hours a day, you can make it! if you use my list for commercial purpose, give me a $10 for using that list! cheers,
On reflection, i have an idea on how you can make some $$$. Start a blog about how it sucks to be poor, and your having a competition to see how much someone can donate to you. Whoever donates you the most money, Ill give them a banner on one of my sites with 45k+ uniques a month for free.
wow! $1700 just for gas? my gas bill is like $25 a month.... that would be almost 6 years of gas bills!
I think you should borrow from your parents or relatives and start doing manual online jobs to pay it. But $1700 on gas ?????
In the first place, how did you manage to accumulate so much debt for your utility bills? Never been paying for the past months?
What have you been using? I would ask a family member or a close friend to borrow it to get you out of the trouble. Or, find a few jobs to try and earn extra. And next time, i would advise you not to use so much!
I think the landlord is trying to screw you over. Dunno what country you're in..... but wherever you are I'd say that looking for a new place to live is a good thing to be doing with yourself right now.
Thats Hungary, Budapest. And this is my last month in this country, I finished the course, leaving Budapest in 2 weeks. I could screw the landlord, no problem - they will never find me. But the problem is that I have some moral values, I cannot just go and scam them its against my values. Imagine if you where renting a rent, someone used up allot of gas and electricity and then disappeared, you wouldn't like that right? I'm not really into this...
