Uninstall it, but also delete all FF data from your PC (in program files). Then install again.

Ps this will delete any add-ons and themes or whatever you had for FF.

Or just use a different browser.

Before reinstalling, delete all previous FF data which also includes Registry Keys, I don't know how to play with Registry keys but it is important if you want a clean new installation.

I had a similar problem. I uninstalled, deleted all Firefox files/folders, and then reinstalled. However, my plugins/addons, and bookmarks were still the same!

    Very frustrating.

maybe there is an outside chance this could be malware/virus/Trojan at work.

do you have any antivirus or spyware detection software?

Some that you can get if you don't are:

Ad-Aware, Spy Bot Search & Destroy, AVG Antivirus, Spyware Doctor

    tis' all ree :)

Its funny you said this, coz I'm having some problems with the firefox, webdev adn SU toolbars too - nothing major, but this is the first time in my life firefox is acting up.

2.0.0.9 is out now, so hopefully my toolbars will stop hiding automatically ...

This actually happened to me today... Firefox would not open. I opened up task manager and for some reason had 3 instances of iexplore.exe running, which is odd because I don't use it. I stopped those and firefox opened right up. It's worth a shot, I suppose ;)
