I wonder why should DP hate sitepoint? as far as I know sitepoint is yet another quality website and it has a real good market place and forums where you can get serious offers and buyers for your website. I equally love sitepoint like I love dp and I don't think DPers hate sitepoint, we benefit from both of it and both are equally good.

    i don't understand this ?

if you don't like it DON'T US IT!

there're planty of other websites for selling and buying...

besides, if you're making a sale for 1 $2000 for example, i don't think the $20 will matter this much to you!

exactly! flippa is a place where you get quality buyers for your website and its exclusive place where you can deal with sellers and buyers equally with more confidence and scammers at flippa is almost nill.

When you make it free there is possibility that you junk up sellers who are useless literally and lose the quality of your site.

    yeah thanks Ameena!
    i completly forget about scammers....

if you make a free flippa version you'll get scammers and then you'll scare the real buyers/sellers :)

I think flippa is great by itself. Making a free listing website will just turn it into a spam portal. No one will actually be serious in buying anything because it could be anyone listing it. Scammers are looking into this kind of opportunity.

I listed one of my site there and made a sale. I am satisfied with it and I'm willing to pay the success fee even though it could cause a pain. But hey, that's what makes it a top quality listing website. You'll have no fear buying or selling website there cause you know people there are serious and legit.

Its just the way it works, there's bad and good side to it. One more thing, Flippa is a place for you to list high profitable website, if your site is making $50 per month and you think of listing it there, its really hard to get any profit from the sale. ;)

What makes flippa work is the fee they are charging. Else it would be the same DP BS sales.
Even though I think a marketplace with lesser fee and similar features would definitely be a Flippa killer.. :)

Exactly... A free marketplace will fall apart under the weight of unrealistic sellers, scammy bidders, lack of support, junk listings & more.

Those things will turn off legitimate sellers from listing, and buyers from participating.

Plus, the development resources to run a large successful marketplace are huge. Just try replicating telephone verification, verified Google Analytics stats, advanced search & filtering, custom email notifications and more.

Yes, that is why DP is a heaven of scammers !!!:(:

Most people here just looking for DIRT CHEAP PRICE, i only use DP as my dumping ground. if I can't get it SOLD on flippa, then here you go, will sell it in DP for 10 times less.

    :D

If you want to kill them - make a clone script and release it open source. This way they will suddenly face thousands of competitors ;)

Well, you pay $19 and then hundreds if not thousands of people see your site. It's like a very cheap promotion. On ebay, some people list their sites, put an astronomical price like $100,000 on them and only pay $2 to list it. Basically free advertising. They do not intend to sell those sites, at all.
