I'm going to Iran..

For a month this summer :)
I know you all think it`s a war ridden place with girls that cover themselves everywhere and it`s all desert and the men just rape girls left and right.. but you`re very wrong it has issues but it`s one of the most beautiful places on earth!

The whole `Western style haircut`` arrests happened, I was a bit nervous then I phoned up my uncle and relatives and they laughed at me and said `You expect them to catch over 60 million people of the population`` ..he also said they do this sometimes to scare people and for me not to worry. It`s just a scare tactic.. So again, you need to get two sides of the story ;)

    :D

Nice to hear about your trip, I'm sure you will have a great time and learn alot too. Would love to see some photos of the real Iran, not the TV-Iran.

Iran, Iran so far awayyyy - couldn't get away.

Good luck, and post photos please. Document the facilities, and the youth, and see if you can get them to start a revolution.

I don't hate Cheney per se--I just think he needs help. I'm just concerned for JI--and everyone else who may be in Iran in the near future.

I knew a guy who would meet his parents in Dubai because he was afraid the Iranians would keep him in Iran if he visited them there (he was born there, but didn't do his military commitment or something).

Oh yes the military thing, You have to be 16 I think for you to have to stay in iran and do your 2 years, that really sucks.. but im only 15 and you can `buyout` your military time for 10 grands, so my parents will just pay that :)

I have two sides to the story as well.
My bosses wifes best friend is Iranian, she is also going to Iran this summer.
First, she has to fly to Amsterdam and pull out her 'other' passport, and then go from Amsterdam to Iran so they don't know she's an American.
Then, once inside Iran, she gets together with old friends, they get locked up inside a home and put on makeup and play music. Of course they can't actually GO OUT OF THE HOUSE, because then they would be arrested.

Such a wonderful place since Islam has taken root. Same goes with Lebanon. It seems the religion of peace turns things into instant shit. Coincidence....or not? I think not.

I agree mate, my family says if Islam was removed out of Iran, our great history wouldn't of been spat on, and we would live allot better. :)

She said they all sit around and bitch about the government. She said there is a handful of people that control everything.

And correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it our fault the current regime is in power? We helped to oust the Shaw, correct?

LY2 no way, we helped to install the shah. It is our governments fault for taking out mossadegh( the one before the shah). The shah was a minority leader never elected to that office and had a very brutal secret police backing him up trained by our cia. Mossadegh was a a good leader who would have become a great leader if our government had given him the chance to lead iran. He was time magazines man of the year in 1951 and also had a phd in finance. Most educated iranians looked up to him as a hero. The shah was a tyrant and suppressed popular opinion to stay in power. The iranian people were so angry that they turned to the lunatic khomanei and this is why extremist islam is in power in iran.
Sweet story with a happy ending isnt it?:(
