Don't go with HostGator...their servers were so insecure I was hacked and everything was lost!!! They blame cPanel, I blame them!

I agree with the overall feeling of everyone else's comments in this thread- 'you get what you pay for'.

As has been said many times in this thread, since it was a free deal they owe you nothing.

As I understand your frustration, I must say that you pretty much asked for this to happen to you:

    1. You admit you knew they were a NEW company- probably some guy in a country you've never heard of with a $20/month resellers account with a real hosting company who didn't pay his bill

    2. The whole "free" thing comes up again. Just pay a few bucks a month with a well known hosting company. Don't you think its worth it now????

Sorry to hear about your site.

    Yeah I've never liked HostGator.

I paid $4 for some space at xzorbix.com. Just waiting for it to be approved. I hope to god Xtreme iTalk comes up for at least a few hours tonight so I can get all my sites.

Good News: It's up like I predicted. I'm just doing a full home directory back-up. I already backed up the sql so worst case scenario, I have to do a default IPB installation. My main concern was that I would lose almost 2 years worth of posts hehe.

I'll let you guys know when it's all transferred over. :)

Oh brother...I'm going to offer to help now. Before you do anything "RESEARCH INTO IT". There is several high quality websites in the world that have review lists with little stars next to them showing all types of quality. You are a webmaster and it's your business to follow a pattern of healthy and smart business.

This is good advice. Now for the emotional aspect of a webmaster. You should have none. If someone says something and you consider it trash do not consider it worth much thought of a reply. You are in business, and feeling just wreck your great plan on doing your goals.

Another great example of advice that will help you profit for the future. Time is important to the internet becuase it changes trends every day. Don't waste much or Joe will be getting ahead of YOU.

You should've had a backup to the site. Always backup the site every 2nd day, and if you are being attacked then track them and burn them to the ground. If you cannot track them, then at least run like the wind to another host the next day. This problem can be solves in 30 minutes that you had. It's a tiny road bump if you were ready for it.

EGS we have never had one of our shared or reseller boxes hacked. We do have customers that are hacked all the time due to insecure scripts, bad passwords, trojans on their home computer, etc.

Did you contact us when you were hacked? If you contacted us we could have easily have given you a backup. Please let me know more about this as I would love to try and make things right with you and clear up any misunderstandings. Thanks!

Awardspace.com is a free web host, without any ads or posting and has worked very well for me for 2 years.

Alright well the host I moved to went down as well now, even though I paid for it.

Third time in the first 12 hours actually but it hasn't come up in like half a day now. I'm going to have to move somewhere else I guess.

Can anybody suggest something fast, reliable, and around $5 a month please?

    Thanks.

Taylor, i would suggest bluehost. I heard a lot of positive feedback regarding this hosting provider and their customer service was awesome. Additional, i would suggest you double check your script where i believe someone hack your script and using the server resources to spam. As a result, server ip maybe blacklisted.

    Good luck

You are in a non-enviable position. But remember that free hosting always comes with a price (ah!)

That said, if your bandwidth requirements are less, you can try out 10x Free Hosting. Some of my small sites are running on it. So far things have been smooth!

my opinion: you didn't need to get mad at your old host :/ it's not really his fault anyway. If his site was working and yours was not then that's the time to get really pissed off. lol xD

I'm still in a free-like partnership, worked quite.. odd..

A few technical problems at the beggining, stable now, and well haven't paid a dime!

Still, if you have the possibility to buy yourself a dedi, do so!
