I'm going to fucking slaughter my host

I am so pissed off right now.. please excuse any profanities...

Basically I've been hosted for free by KiranHost.com for a few months, in exchange for displaying their banner on my website. It was a partnership that was mutually beneficial for both parties.

But he hasn't responded to an email in over 2 months now. And then a few days ago all my sites go down, and even kiranhost.com does. I assume all other sites on the server did as well. Then it came back up within a day. Then a couple days later it went down again.. and came back up within a day.

I log on this morning and it's down AGAIN. I made partial back-ups of the most important stuff but I didn't have enough space or time to make a full back-up. I am really hoping and expecting it to come up again some time today... but if it doesn't... I dunno. If it comes up then I'm doing a full back-up and getting the HELL out of there ASAP.

If it doesn't though, what are my options? I called his host and they said they can't do a damn thing for me since I'm not their customer and basically they don't give a shit since I'm not paying them.

The number listed in his whois goes to a machine, and when I do a reverse address on the address in whois I get a different number, one that belongs to some fucking foreign impolite assholes. They told me he lives there or he's their friend or something... BUT HE'S NOT THERE AND THEY DON'T KNOW WHEN HE'LL BE BACK. Wow thanks for being so helpful.

My suspicions are that he got killed or is hospitalized and had nothing set-up to prevent this sort of situation. This really screws all his fucking customers and leaves them with ZERO options.

Please help me guys I wanna know what I can do.

using "fucking" in your thread title is kinda frowned upon.

But at the same time, i completely empathize.

I had a mental break down with 1&1 tech support the other day. They simply did not understand my simple request.

Im tempted to go to pure dedicated bc of all the hassles of managed hosting.

Yeah, swearing is bad, but i know where your coming from. I was in a free hosting agreement with a host once, then they all of a sudden kicked me off and delted my account, I was not allowed to get backups or anything, I lost 7 months of work as I didnt make backups

Free hosting means that they owe you nothing, banner or no banner. What do you guys expect for nothing?

Sucks that it happened - but its a harsh learning experience that free hosting is crap. Since you can get reliable paid hosting for a couple of bucks a month, there's no reason to go with free hosting...unless you don't care if one day you wake up and the sites down for good.

Well they don't provide free hosting at all. They were just a new company who wanted a little more exposure and they approached me.

Swearing is out of line in a thread title.

But Jesus H fucking Christ - renting a server space for one year is dirt cheap these days.

    Dollars, mate.

    Shop around. Small, small amount.

Well the old adage "You get what you pay for" comes to my mind. I would rater pay for hosting and get stability than to trade for it to get it "free" and then have it go offline.

One thing to think about. I don't know what kind of connection you have or how much traffic you get but have you ever thought about hosting the site yourself?

1&1 sucks and has no clue what they are doing and I believe a few people at DP have posted about spider issues with them as well.

try hostgator.com I've used them for years.. I use a reseller plan for $34.99 a month and it works great 99.99999% uptime

    very good customer service.

    Full server side scripts allowed.

    Fantastico CPanel rocks too.

Free host's can't provide any reliability as they earn only from ad's, But they should atleast let you have backup.

    Hey Taylor

This is a pain in the azz way to do it but you can recover your site pages via Google Yahoo Or Msn using an advanced operator in the search box.

    pages: www.xtremeitalk.com

You'll need to visit each page

    view source

    copy and paste

    remove any search engine encoding.

    Hope it helps!

    Peace!

I agree about Hostgator. I have many domains and subdomains hosted by them for the past year for 9.95 a month. I've never had a problem with them - so I'm happy!

I tried to edit the title but it wasn't reflected on the forum view or the title of the website.

Anyways as I said many times, it isn't a free host at all and they don't have free packages. This was a unique partnership.

Anyways I've considered hosting myself but I don't know how fast it would be. I've only got like a 1.5ghz computer with like 502mb of ram.
