I'm giving away an idea :)

I have an idea for a web utility that I want to share with you guys, someone could explore it and make a profitable product I don't care.

How many of you guys have switched ad programs or switched parking services recently ? Yeah.. all the trouble of changing all the pages, all the domain DNS's whatever...

The idea is instead of using DNS parked domains for instance you would use always a URL like http://www.theswitch.com/yourdomain.

On the control panel you would setup Parking services like SEDO, GoldKey, DomainSponsor... and you could switch easily between these services.

YourDomain -> theswitch.com/YourDomain -> The selected parking service. (changeable online )

These settings could be applied to N domains. So suppose you want to switch 30 domains to DomainSponsor you would just have to pick the 30 domains and then setup the DomainSponsor connector ( basically a domain mask like www.domainsponsor.com/DOMAIN ) and the switch service would redirect to the parking service that is active. On the other week with just a click you could switch to SEDO and you could measure each service performance. This is based in HTTP urls so it would be effective immediately instead of DNS.

For the ad publishers the service would have another gateway but this time to switch between YPN and Adsense for example. You put each network HTML code in the system and it would return the proper code for the service you selected to be active.

This would be very cool for publishers who like to vary the system their using and compare revenues.

Basically "TheSwitch" service acts like a proxy between your site and the ad system or parking service that is active and selected by you on the control panel.

I've published this on my Blog too.

Thanks. I would expect more feedback from other users but that's ok. :)

I remotely host my dns and then point to he parking sites ip address this works fine and means you don't have to mess with the nameservers.

ok but i'm talking about managing this with 50 domains.

With a service like this you would change all 50 domains from sedo to goldkey for example in 1 second.

I have 700+ domains parked. What I did was create a script that gets the domain name and uses frames to show the parking page. Since the script gets the domain, I can upload the exact same script to any domain I want and it will work. Then I wrote another script that acts like an FTP client. All my domains were added to my hosting account (using another script), and the passwords were saved. Everything is based on numbers, so when it comes time to switch parking programs, I change the frame src in the index script, set the FTP script and let it run. It can then loop and change any site I want to. It's also really quick. When it's done, my site is now parked at the new parking program instantly.

It sounds like a good idea, and I have my files hosted with several different hosts in the event one host suffers a major outage, and this would allow an instant change without DNS propagation. The only problem I see is that you risk having all your domains go down if the event of an outage because they couldn't perform the redirect and all your eggs are in one basket.
