Hey, I've had my site up and running since July 25. Right now I'm getting roughly 50-80 impressions per day, according to AWStats. Unfortunately, I'm not getting really any clicks at all....is there perhaps something wrong with my ad placement? If you could take a look at it real quick and give me your opinion, I would appreciate it much. Thanks.
put ads on above the text stuff... see this site of mine www.2dob4idie.com you can get such ads... will give more clicks
Yeah I do that on the individual pages with articles..as I figure that's where most of the traffic comes, from search engines and stuff. Think I should do that on the front page also?
As a blog discussing a wide variety of different topics, I can tell you that you are going to have a tough time making any money from Adsense. You have topics that range from Steve Irwin's death to anger management, and everything else in between. You have no way to determine which, if any, of these topics are of interest to your readers - so how is Google supposed to determine what keywords to focus on to create relevant ads for your site? Chances are very high that any ads Google displays on your site are *not* going to be of interest to your visitors. For a blog to make money, it has be more focused on a single topic so that it attracts visitors interested in that topic, and so Google will display ads related to that topic. Otherwise, to make any money, your site would have to have a tremendous amount of traffic to offset its deficiencies that create a very low CTR.
Make sure your ads are relevant to the topic and are in an eye-appealing place, and you it probably wouldn't hurt to gain more traffic.
hello, How many impressions are you getting according to Adsense? The number of impressions using adsense usually differ from that of Awstats or Webalizer. Also, how many unique visitors are you getting?
I'm bored, so I'm going to give detailed tips here. I know I sound like a broken record but I warn everyone I give advice to I'm new to this so my advice doesn't carry much weight, I'm just relaying what I've learned so far. Here's my opinion. First thing I would do is change the color of the url field at the bottom of your ads from green to black so that they match the text. This makes it look less like an ad which is what you're going for. Next I would change the font for your blog so it matches the adsense text, the differing fonts make the ads stand out too much in my opinion. Also increase your text so that it's the same size. Next, I'd bold the links on your blog so that they match the links on the ads. I'm almost certain you can set this in css so you don't have to go through and do it for every individual link, but I'm not sure how so you'll have to look it up or ask someone who knows. If your site is well indexed by google I'd add google search to replace the search that's there, not a big earner but every little bit helps. Hope that helps.
Hello, Try to improve your site visitors to atleast a few hundreds per day, and impressions to a few thousands per day. You may need to write more content, and get more references to your site. Try to provide links to internal pages, and not just the home page. You will be able to experiment with adsense at that point of time. Otherwise, the results wouldn't be very accurate. hope that helps.
I'd use text links, I didn't see any there... but I use them in the blogs in my signature and I think they look more natural. More of a chance of visitors actually acknowleding the fact that they are there just because they don't feel like huge chunky ads.
Hello, Have you tried wide skyscraper ad on your site? Try using conventional blue color hyperlinks with black body text. How long the visitors stayed on the site? Examine the keywords used by the visitors to arrive at the webpage. By fine tuning the webpage content, and the ads, it should be possible to get about 4-10 clicks per 100 impressions.
I half agree with stackman: a niche blog is easier to make money with. However on my personal blog, I write on a variety of things but I try to emulate the feel of a lifestyle magazine and it works for me. Especially on single-post views. But having said that, you really need to concentrate on building up your traffic first. 50-80 impressions a day is just not good enough. Do this first THEN optimise the ads. In summary: good content --> traffic --> ads optimisation. That's how you should be prioritising things.
You definitly need more traffic. 50-80 impressions per day is nothing. You need 100 times more than that to make a few bucks a day.
I'm not too sure about that. It depends on quality of ads of course. I have an ipod site that gets about .04 a click, but my stock picks site gets anywhere from .50 to $1.50 a click. I've had days with 80 page impressions and made over $10 and more. Others I had a few hundred clicks and not one person clicked on an ad. Howeve I won't disagree that the best way to make money at adsense is hundreds to thousands of visitors daily.
