Im getting backlinks but?

Hi,

I got 257 Backlinks on my site, but only 25 index pages from google! and 1 from Yahoo?

Does it matter about index pages?

 

I am confused, what do back links have to do with indexed pages. Indexed pages are the number of pages on your site that will show up when someone uses a google search. Backlinks are links on another site that link to yours. They are not related.

 

If you are talking about backlinks TO your site, then try getting some of those backlinks to your internal pages and not all to your home page.. also, take a look at your internal linking strategy

 

you have to get deep links to get your site properly indexed

 

indexed pages just show howmany pages on your site that google recognised and allows the surfers to search for it
backlinks are the link that will direct the visitor to your specific page of your site (mostly the main page)
no. of how many indexed page you got not relevant to how many backlinks you got.
the more indexed page in google show the more content you got.
the more backlinks you got show the more popularity your site got.

 

look at the structure of your site and how the navigation works.
can a spider sim see the links off your home page?
put some deeper pages in links at the foot of the page and use the page key phrase as anchor text.

as mentioned earlier, don't understand your relationship between links and indexed.

have you set the site up in webmaster tools?

get some blog links to deeper pages
get some directory links to deeper pages

loads of places on this forum to get em for a few dollars

 

Got them, got 10 EDU links back. and about 300,000 + links in directies.

yahoo is allways the slowest se.

if you want to be indexed more by google, you need to build so more backlinks

 

The more pages you get indexed the better chance of getting visitors from search results. Just keep getting backlinks. Google will eventually index your other pages unless they are hard for the bot to follow.

 

What are you people smoking? Of course backlinks play a huge part in the number of your indexed pages.

The more/better backlinks the deeper and more frequent Google will index your site.

 

Is that anything like pillow head...?

if the site has very poor navigation, and all the links point to the home page, why does this mean it will get all of the pages indexed?

if the SE cant see the deeper pages then no matter how many links you have, they wont be indexed.

if what you are saying is true, with so many links, why is the site not indexed better?

300,000 back links is a lot of links

I am not saying back links do not have a part to play in indexing a site, of course they do. my comment about the correlation was in response to the question on this site in particular.
site has 300,000 links and wonders why not indexed.

That actually completely depends. With 300,000 backlinks, he must be using Yahoo to see them. If Yahoo shows 300,000, but you have to click on "repeat the search with the omitted results included" after 50 or so, then no, it's not a ton of links.

Would have to see the site to know for sure, of course.

there is a problem, and i dont think it is not enough links.
