I'm getting a lot of traffic today

And I do not know from where. My traffic has almost doubled today for some reason and I actually pulled my adwords and shopping.com advertising while I make some updates to the website. Today by far has been the most traffic I have received all month and I did not want people coming to the site!

I'm checking awstats and its not coming from search engines or any specific website, is there something I'm missing? Is it possible to find out where the traffic is coming from? Is word of mouth this strong? I sold one cheesecake to a lady in Ohio last week and my girlfriend thinks she may have told a few people but I couldn't see her telling this many people.

Good for you. Spikes like these are quite common if you rely on Organic Search a lot, who knows something happend somewhere and they searched for a keyword and your site showed up?

look at the stats. If you have a shared account. There is usually a stats package installed. If not I would recommend either StatCounter or Google Analytics

Actually I may have pinpointed it but not 100% sure. I had a press release on Friday but didnt expect much traffic from it.. not initially at least. I think a publication may have picked it up and that is where the traffic is coming from, I honestly forgot about the press release because I did not think there was an immediate difference.
