well, if what you sell isn't adult products you shouldn't have problems, they don't deal only in euros, they also have pounds, USD, and other currencies.

    Why not call them?

Since i only use them in as a particular customer i don't know how they work for merchants but from what i heard i think they charged less fees than paypal

I'm sure they take multi currency payments but their fee is set in euro. It doesn't look that much cheaper if it is starting FROM 2.9%.

Paypal is by far the most popular and easiest to use. It's too bad they rip so many people off. I'm trying to start using Google Checkout but don't have much experience with them. I haven't really found any other good alternatives though. I tried Bidpay, but didn't really like their setup, it was too hard to use I thought. But a lot of people do like them.

Just to report that I've switched to Google Checkout since my last post and I have successfully processed an order. It was very easy to implement, payment received from Google OK, commision fee free till the end of 2007. :D

Incidentally, I received an acknowledgement to a complaint I made to Paypal. It took them one month to reply and I am still waiting for their final explanation.

Personally, I have not had any trouble yet. Who claim to have problems with their PayPal accounts are my clientes, but I think it may not be true - They may be just excuses to gain some time to get the money to settle the bill! haha!

I recently setup an online retail store and use a variety of payment options [c-gold, e-bullion, e-gold, pecunix], as I'm aware of the problems that many of your have had with PayPal. You can take a look at my website here:

    http://thoughtdeep.com/products.html

If anyone is interested in information on practical use of any of the payment options available on the website, email me at dtsltd09@kaxy.com

Me too...Paypal is the "Big Brother" of the payment processers and customers know of them when it's time to pay. I'd think I would lose sales if I switched off of them completely.

I can also never understand why it takes Paypal 3 to 4 days to transfer funds to my bank account. But when they want their money, it comes straight out of my bank account right away....go figure.

when companies don't have a group of competitors, i mean serious and well known competitors, they suck big time, PayPal is one of them

    e-gold sucks too

all these payment companies that are located in the US are silly, remeber the patriot act, now go figure

and they don't have any serious non-US competitors

i dont understand why payment processing companies police frauds, i think the policing stuff should be left to the cops and their like, i mean here is the basic of payment processing:

    money from A -> B
    if successful: transfer complete
    if not: transfer incomplete

period, what the f*k is it with address verification and shit like that, returning the money, disputes, and etc, that is just messed up and wrong

imagine: you hire joe, you give him 200$ and you pay him 2$, to take the 200$s to Mr williams, he walks to Mr williams office, gives him the 200$, and earns $2 commission now tell my why the f*k should joe give himself the right to ask you where you got the 200$ and why you are giving it to Mr Williams?, wouldn't you just fire him if he asked you that?, but people are really weak these days, instead of companies giving service to people they are f*ing them

PayPal is the best, I have used it for 5 years and never had a problem.

You should try calling them instead of the contact form.

Depending on the nature of your business and customers, you may find out that Google Checkout is seriously becoming a strong competitor of Paypal's. It's easier and cheaper to use. And it uses the "Google" brand which is trustworthy enough for a customer to go ahead and pay you through this processor.
