So what is the best code program for it?? Can I use Drupal, wordpress, or joomla?? or should I just use dreamweaver?? which the site will need also will need a good search engine not google one....Can anyone suggest me?? It doesnt matter if you use their source code. Just integrate the source code of their site into your theme AKA template you are using.

So you can just integrate the source code into your theme and you should be fine.

If you are a rookie in webdesign, do not know the difference between WordPress and DreamWeaver, I would suggest you first get the basics of HTML/CSS at w3schools.com

Building a site like reddit is not done with installing a script. You want to compete against reddit, makes no sense at all tbh.

If you want a custom design you need to know how to use CSS, HTML and I would say you need some knowledge in Linux/Apache to get their code running (just watched http://code.reddit.com/wiki/RedditDependencies )

You can install WordPress with some Digg clones... read http://www.hongkiat.com/blog/6-free-digg-clones-scripts/

    He's right, you know.

If you use a program like http://www.pligg.com/ you can get setup quickly but your site will be the same as all the other Pligg sites out there.

If you seriously want a site like Digg or Reddit (in terms of functionality and traffic) you will need to put together a business plan that realistically costs out the development and marketing of the site. If you can't get returns from it then you have to ask yourself if you should even start the project.

You just use the program that suits you, doesn't matter that what program they use (reddit.com and digg.com. just go for your own and create a unique design and website with new look that everyone wants. at least show your creativity.

I'm planning to create a site like digg or reddit. I am new to building a website and would want to ask which do you recommend for a beginner like me? Pligg? Driggs? GrabTheMic? Upwarded source?

Is it possible for me to create a site like digg on wordpress? If yes what plugins can i use?

As much as possible i don't want to buy a theme like nominate or plusone.
