I am working to create a search engine and I need your help. I currently have a complete working system for storing and searching web data. However, I don't have the means to collect massive amounts of crawl data myself. Hardly anyone can do it alone. That's why new challengers to the search engine battle have so much difficulty getting into the game. Therefore, I've set up a distributed crawling platform through which your computer can collect data for use in my new search engine. As I feed the system more data, I will be able to improve it and eventually set up the engine for public use. That’s why I need your help. I do want to reward those who help and so I’m giving away ad credits based on how many web pages you download to your computer using my distributed client. These ad credits can currently be used for advertisements alongside my “New Web†platform through which people can add their own comments to any and all web pages (another project I’m pursuing at Amagit.COM). I also hope to display advertising alongside my search engine once I have enough data for a relevant engine to emerge from. I can’t guarantee that the ad credits will be useful but I offer them as a sort of reward for your hard work. So here’s how you can help: Spread the word about my distributed search engine project. Even your signature is a great place to help spread the word. Download the distributed client and let it run when you are not at your computer (and earn yourself ad credits). Post your comments here about features you would like to see in a new search engine. I might include them in mine. We can discuss possible improvements upon search engines in general too. this sounds really interesting. this distributing crawling concept is very new. but i have my skepticism. there is bing, google, yahoo, cuil, i just dont think it would take off
Not really new. Grub.org has been around for quite awhile. Though it took them along time to actually make their search results and data public.
Very interesting project, I have downloaded your software and running it. But I don't quite understand what the data is about. You should have a FAQ page on your site giving details on what it does.
