    Congratulations! :)

It's awesome. You'll love it. Don't pay TOO much attention to the advice you're given as some things you're better off picking up yourself. Different people will tell you different things, but ultimately, he/she is your child, and you bring him/her up the way you think is best.

People your comments have made my day. Thanks for taking the time to reply. I have showed my wife all your comments and it's made her very happy. We are very lucky to be having a baby and we are looking forward to the days when we have the little bub by our sides and will cherish every moment as i keep hearing from people that the kids grow up way to quick.

Thanks again people... now it's late here in Oz so I'm about to tuck in my wife who is very tired at the moment... I'll be back in the morning and hope that I might be able to help someone in this forum with some kind of IT question.

    Nite nite..

I'm happy for you! :) Unfortunatenly I can't give you any advice, cos I'm pretty young, but I wish you and your family all the best! :D

By the way, do you want a boy or a girl?

Just tell 'm, they'll probably understand. Just don't hope for just a boy or just a girl. Be happy with anything you get.

Congratulations also if you have a girl... because she too can become a webmaster... or webmistress... or webbeing, or whatever you want to call it.

I see you're from Oz... me too... a mum of a 12 y/o boy from Adelaide SA here.

The sleep issue can be truly life altering! And I believe it may go on for 18 years or more. :) To begin with it's the baby crying, wanting feeding every couple of hours, changing, company etc. Next comes teething, feeling lonely. Then the bedtime battles.. just one more video, one more story... scared of the dark. (These next ones I've only heard about... we're not there yet.) Then they start staying out late with friends, while you wait up with worry, crying and screaming. Then they move away from home, and probably stay out late, or away, or do who knows what, while you worry, sobbing your heart out. :)

Do take time to do some things now, if you're wife feels up to it. A baby/child in the family changes your life in so many ways much more than you ever imagine. We tended to think prior to the birth, that the baby would just "fit in" with our lives, that we wouldn't have to change it too much. Hmmm... yeah, right. A lot of those changes are wonderful, amazing, unequal to anything else. But some can be a bit of a drag, until you become accustomed to it.

Have you thought much about the future... eg education? We home educate our son. Nothing like it! We get to share so much of his learning and development and are much closer I think because of it. This partly came about because we just couldn't bear the thought of turning our precious little one over to someone else, who didn't love him as we did, for so many hours a day. I'm so glad we discovered homeschooling. We've never regretted it... or hardly ever. :)

Have your friends thought of adopting? I know it's not the same, but there are a lot of little ones out there, especially overseas, who need homes. It's a long and drawn out process though, but worth it, in my opinion, if it means having a precious child to love as your own... if they thought they could feel that way about a child that wasn't born to them. Some people can, some can't.

Anyway, congratulations and I would suggest as time goes on you read some books on positive parenting and the like, to be prepared to deal as respectfully and considerately with your beloved child as possible, in times of misbehavior. (and there will be some, believe me!) :)
