OK, I'm almost afraid to ask because some of you weren't too fond of the "bloggy" feel of my other site, but I just finished the design of The Newbie Business Center and I need some feedback. I know you guys will give it to me straight. Now, before you peek, I want to tell you why I chose this: The simplistic bloggy navigation. All the pages links are right there. The navigation is on the right side, so my content will be seen 1st by the search engine spiders as well as the readers. I can easily add more pages if I get on a creative writing streak again. I'm addicted to sticky notes in real life, so I thought it fit. Let me know what you think. Sheree
VERY nice blog! Really lovin it! Cool sticky note theme! Awesome! Just 1 picture (small) in header or small logo would look cool! But over all 9/10 Thanks!
it is nice love the theme have you tried adsense yet you can fill the rest of the space on the right you never know you might make money out of it
I don't think adsense is good if blog is new... Better at start exchange/sell ur link/ad space on blog to get some money/traffic!
I like the style, it is unique, I would like to see you keep developing it. I think it has potential. It is still very simple on the eye, and you need to keep that , while still making it a little more developed.
Wow, thanks guys. I put my picture on the home page and changes it a bit by adding some "what's in it for me" information right at the top. The reason I don't use a lot of graphics is because my thing is video and I'll be adding videos all the time. I don't want to bog down the load time. By the way, it's a website, not a blog. I have 4 blogs for different topics that link back to my 2 websites, but this is a static website, it just has a "blog-like" theme or structure. I chose this set up because I like the navigation simplicity of it and it makes for good internal linking structure for SEO. Sheree
Pardon me for being frank, it looks a bit too simple, for web sites maybe try getting a free template from sites such as http://www.oswd.org , then enhance the template with your logo and graphics. Add in your original content. I feel that it would look much better.
I think the simple design looks friendly and accessible for newbies who are searching for useful information to get started in a web based business. When I visited the site, it wasn't until I left the main page and went to another page on the site that the ezine subscription box floated onto my screen. I think this should also happen on the main page. It is important to take every opportunity to build your list. The only thing I didn't like was the presentation of the forum design being so different to the main website. I would have preferred it to have a similiar design or color scheme. Hope this helps.
I have to agree with wisdomtool. It is way too simple looking. If you want the site to have a business look and feel I would play around with the background add a picture of an open briefcase or a desk, something to tell visitors that this is a business related site. You have to smash people over the head when they come to your site. The days of subtlety are over. Another problem is that you are going with a postit note feel, but the central column is way too long to look like a postit note. The newsletter popups are pretty annoying.
Its looks a bit to simple, very Microsoft "FrontPage-ish" Also if your going to put a picture of yourself at least put a picture of you smiling not a bad action shot...However i will say you have very good content... You have a great start but please consider upgrading the design.... Good luck
I am not a big fan of it, but then again, I like sites, especially sites that are giving information to be a bit busier, and take up the entire screen. I think it is tooo simple. Then again, everyone is all "2.0", and I am not. I don't get a "post it" feel from it, I get a "construction paper" feel from it. and yes, Pop Ups, are bad. Especially bright red ones that you have to chase around the screen to close them out. The only place that I do like them is on DJ and Nightclub sites that pop up a flier for upcoming events or appearances. JMO
