I've been trying to cut back on eating out period, most restaurant food isn't very healthy... However if I could only convince my husband of that.
I can't stand McDonalds, only Fast Food place I will eat at is Wendy's, and even then I usually get a Chili,or Baked Potato with my Burger.
If you want to eat healthy, you don`t need to buy any books or visit courses to know how to do it right. It doesn´t take too much time to prepare food for a 1 person household. As I mentioned perhaps it would be good to start a homepage about this stuff with recepies and medical explanaitions about them. Subway isn`t a better choice, their ingridents aren't fresh, and that´s the key guys. One important thing you should know is: Meat, potatos and cheese aren't unhealthy. Your body needs that stuff! Just think about for how many centuries humanity has just eaten this food. The point is only, how you prepare them and how much you eat form them. Chocolate is healthy, but only dark chocolate (about 60 % plus of cacao). It lowers the heart attack risk by 60 %. You should eat from time to time some, but not too much. If you have any more questions, please post.
I don't know where you're buying them from. That's certainly not true where I shop, especially when compared with getting a take away or pre-prepared meals. You need to find a better greengrocers. It does take a bit of time and effort to do your own cooking, but it's definitely worth it in terms of improving your health and your mood. Cook for yourself, and you can be sure there's no MSG, hydrogenated fats, E numbers, aspartame, or any of the other crap that is routinely loaded into fast food and microwave meals.
If you take the time and learn what to buy and where to buy it your food bill will be smaller with real food than with fast food. Fruit and weggie prices differ like crazy.
i've started to stop buying fast food and more real food lately, has made difference to how I feel, and look i tihkn, but price difference havent found much difference
No offense but I took a quick look at the books suggested and I wouldn't recommend any of those. Some nice books are Krause's Food, Nutrition and Diet Therapy Perspectives in Nutrition Oh and fast food gives you energy, that's why they are fattening
Fast food doesn't give you energy. The chemicals in fast mood actually make people addicted, and you have a short energy spike that doesn't last very long. That's why you end up feeling sluggish and tired after eating a fast food meal -- and also why you still feel hungry shortly afterwards, as well. Fast food is GARBAGE. Even salads sold in fast food restaurants pack enough calories and sodium to kill you if you eat them all the time. That's why I've sworn off fast food and haven't eaten any in two years.
I eat out or order out every single night. But never from the fast food chains. Once in a while we'll get Subway but that's less than once-a-month. I've been married for about four years and my wife and I have cooked/grilled less than 20 times! ha ha! My real problem is I average five soda pops (Vault, Mt. Dew or Coke) and two red bulls every day.
2 years ago I stopped eating mcdonalds after biting into my big mac and there was no meat between the buns. Last week, I had a craving and it was as crappy as I expected. Hopefully, I last another 2 years. Started smoking again this past month as well.
Good luck with your change of eating. Junk food can taste so good and its so easy to go out and get a big fat juicy burger with fries and a tanker of coke. But the people that push that food down our necks have been telling us to eat that junk since we were children. They are still brainwashing our kids to crave this type of evil food. The food is intentionally addictive and is laced with the very worst types of fats and MSG (an agent that tells our brain we are eating a satisfying meaty meal - addictive). I hope you enoy your new diet, you should explore natural foods and you will find things that are alot tastier than junk food.
I agree with you completely. After a period of time, when your body gets used to the healthy foods, your cravings for the junk actually start to diminish -- and you'll start craving the healthier foods instead.
