Okay! Fixed it, silly host had provided the incorrect database address or w/e (name typo ). Thanks! -nmx
I use FileZilla (http://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla) myself. You might want to try that out instead.
If you are looking to sell the site, in the end, you will definitely be needing some sort of community i thinks. therefore, i would also invest in a forum. if you need help setting this up/someone to help administer/design please contact me!
If I do develope this site it then I do plan to sell it. Right now i'm also working on another project, which I plan to *hopefully* be MUCH bigger, though that is also in VERY early stages, so I don't know whether I will develope this atall/yet.. If I were to get a forum up and going, with quite a good community, does anyone have any idea what it'd be worth? I am still in the dark about what the return potentially is on this, and whether it's worth it. And does any have any ideas for the main focus of this site? What ideas should I incorporate into the forum and/or blog? To Pangea: If I do develope this site, I will probably need a team so i'll hit you up with a PM (if I do, that is). Thanks for the interest. -nmx
Cheers.... I dont know exactly what kind of money a site like this would go for, nor, tbh who you would sell it to: a chruch group or just a christian? more money could be made if you were probably to sell it to a business man, but that would most likely be against the ethos of the idea!
Develop it with Jesus. But really, if it's a religious site and you're looking to make money out of it, at least donate some of it to TearFund or something.
The only reason i'd develope this site is to make money, for me.. What your opinion on that is, I don't know.. But personally, i'm against religion, I despise it.. And so with that in mind, I'd never develope this site around one religion, as GOD comes in different forms to every person.. As for donating money to religous charity, unless it'll make me more in the long run, I'd never do that, again I have no desire and personally object to giving any money to a Christian charity for my reasons.. If I was going to give to a charity, it'd be to African support (oxfam etc), and that I would be happy to lose out some money on, as that's something I personally support and would be happy to support. -nmx
Sorry if this steers the discussion off topic, but there are a few things you don't know. First of all a good friend of mine's family basically works for TearFund. Although I'm not religious either and I hold similar views to you in the fact I too despise it, TearFund's work mostly resides in Africa and lobbying governments to spend more money on aid to stop AIDS in not only Africa but many other developing world countries too. They also helped set up Live8 back in 2005 in Scotland. It's transnational aid and doesn't spend its money on churches and corrupt priests. If you want to fuel that, next Sunday pop by your local churches collection office. I do empathise with you thinking outside the scope of the religious context of the word "God". Perhaps it would be an excellent source of discussion but you'd probably need a strong moderation team due to the "colourful" distribution of religious ideals in America, as well as their "strong ties" with political issues. If it means paying decent moderators or doing it all yourself, you'll have to think of a good moderation and general people handling dossier if it gains popularity.
