Are you completely sure about this? So it's legal for google to have http://microsoft.google.com and sell or do whatever they want on that subdomain? I think the company retains full rights no matter where it is used.
they are not illegal some blog templates don't support the new blogger layout ... just revert it back to classic when changing template... and but even though the some of the privately designed old blogger templates looks good , it is not as flexible as new templates and adding adsense to the old templates can really be a big headache.
