I have a personal blog listing movies i have watched. I would like to post emule/torrent links to movies i blog about. Are there any legal issues posting to pirated content from a blog??
Well first it depends on your hosting provider. They may be stricktly against torrents and warez, so even linking to them will get you suspended. I wouldnt suggest you host the website in the us either. Technically linking to illegal copyrighted content is illegal but at the same time are you worth prosecuting? But 99% of the time if an anti piracy outfit find what you are doing to be illegal all they will do is send you a DMCA notice. If you comply with the notice your cool but if you do not that is only when they will prosecute you.
Man, who the hell uses emule anymore lol.... This really depends on a range of things largely geographic in nature. Comparing what you are looking at doing to the largest torrent site on planet is a bit of a non sequitur. Nigel
Not really. I do webhosting and I get C&D's all the time. Last month I got one from a train museum about a girl scout brownie troop that had placed pictures on their website of an unannounced that was still being restored. Lawyers got involved in that one since the troop leader would not remove the pictures. Happens at all levels. Can you be legally held for damages? That's a gray area. As noted up above, more likely you'll get a C&D to remove the links.
There are legal torrents too. There is nothing like torrents are illegal. Torrent technology is official and well developed and a nice tech.
Tread carefully here. While P2P is not at all illegal, using it for accessing pirated material is (owning a car is not illegal, speeding is). You'd be better linking to IMDB or the movie's site. You could possibly make a dollar by linking to an affiliate seller if you're that way inclined ...
